Today’s classrooms need to be reflective of the diverse needs of students. All students need to feel accepted, valued, and safe. ECE’s Ministerial Directive on Inclusive Schooling in 2016 put forward the following core beliefs and values:

  • All students are capable of learning
  • Students learn in different ways, varying rates, and in different settings
  • Diverse backgrounds must be respected
  • Students have the fundamental right to an effective education and the necessary supports
  • Parental involvement is crucial to student success
