I was born in Fort Simpson and raised in Wrigley. I attended school in Wrigley until grade seven and attended the residential schools in Fort Simpson and in Yellowknife. I graduated from grade 12 in Yellowknife. I attended Red Deer College after graduation. I returned to Yellowknife and started working. I worked at various jobs with the Government of the NT. I even trained as a Territorial Court Clerk and travelled with the court party throughout Nunavut, that was an experience.
In the late eighties I took the Arctic Airports course at the College in Fort Smith to be an Observer/Communicator, passed the course successfully and returned to Wrigley to work at the Airport Aerodrome Station. I met my husband and we moved to Fort Liard after a few years. We have two daughters, I trained and became a Justice of the Peace for the NWT and did this for about 10 years until we moved to the Yukon. We lived in Fort Liard, Yellowknife and Teslin, YT.
In April 2010 we moved to Fort Simpson as my husband took a job with MACA. I was fortunate to get a job that Fall as a SNA at the high school. I was in the position until June 2018. I enjoyed working with the junior high and some senior high students. It was amazing to watch them grow from little grade sevens to grade twelves. My daughter, Mary graduated from the high school here. I am currently working as the Secretary/Treasurer at the Liidlii Kue Regional High School since September 2018 but my passion is working with the students.
